CX-30 keys & remotes
Door-button operation does not explain every starting fault
Check the remote’s operating mode
The 2024 CX-30 manual describes a key power-saving mode that leaves remote buttons usable while turning off normal pocket-key entry and starting functions. That is one model-year example, not a diagnosis. Mention this symptom so the current key can be assessed first.
Tell us where detection fails
Mazda also notes that key position can affect detection, including storage areas around the dashboard or console. Follow your own manual’s instructions and report whether the fault happens with one key or both. Do not treat a warning alone as proof that the key has lost its registration.
Lost fob or another spare
If the remote itself is missing, provide the CX-30 year and whether any registered key remains. We check the replacement part and service availability before booking. Keep any key-code tag private and outside the vehicle rather than posting it in a photo.

Key questions
Can a CX-30 remote work while its indicator light stays off?
Mazda describes that behavior in the 2024 key power-saving mode. Tell us what the buttons and start function do; it does not by itself establish a failed remote.
Should I try a second CX-30 key before calling?
If one is available, tell us whether it works normally. The comparison helps distinguish a problem limited to one remote from a vehicle-side symptom.
Does replacing the CX-30 fob battery replace the key?
No. Battery service keeps the existing remote. Ask separately about a missing or damaged key, and have us confirm its required functions and part.
